Rubio Presents Her Experimental and Intimate New Single “Lo Que No Hablas”

Los Angeles, CA (July 28th, 2023)Rubio, the artistic experiment of renowned Chilean artist, drummer and producer Francisca Straube, releases new single, “Lo Que No Hablas” via FAMA Collective. The weight of silence and the moving fusion between classical and electronic music, make up a new preview of Venus & Blue, the artist’s forthcoming LP. The song is accompanied by a cinematic music video that premiered exclusively with La Banda Elastica

If in “Tu Olor,” her previous single, she vibrates with the rhythm of the nuances that she decides to hide, in “Lo Que No Hablas” she finds herself with the dense burden of what she cannot speak. “It is a very experimental song sonically. I mix classical music with electronic music, there are many piano samples. I think it’s very rich in terms of its sound,” explains Rubio about the song she worked alongside Pablo Stipicic (Esteman, Daniela Spalla, Javiera) on the production.

“It’s one of my favorite songs off the album. I think the lyrics are very relatable since we all have things we don’t talk about, things we are trying to heal from. My hope is that we heal and we can be okay with what we don’t say out loud. They are words that touch me personally, reminding me of my youth and there’s an important honesty in the lyrics,”  shares Rubio.

The single is also accompanied by a gorgeous video directed by Caco Marshall starring Maya Luna Boren. It’s a surreal look at a woman who is quickly morphing into a fairy creature as she goes about her day. Initially, she seems frazzled by this sudden transformation, but in the end embraces it fully. The video within itself is a thoughtful work of art that allows the lyrics to speak for themselves.

Rubio’s previous single, “Tu Olor”, was the first sneak peek into the sound and narrative qualities of her upcoming album Venus & Blue. Plus, the artist recently captivated crowds with her performances at the KEXP Festival Open Air in Seattle and at the BB Auditorium in Mexico City. Don’t miss your chance to catch Rubio live, her next shows are on October 14th at the Festival Tecate Coordenada in Guadalajara, Mexico and the Festival Fauna Primavera in Santiago, Chile on November 24th.
