Salt Cathedral
Salt Cathedral is a genre-defying duo based in New York City, composed of Juliana Ronderos and Nicolás Losada. Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, they are celebrated for their ability to blend cutting-edge electronic music, a wide range of global rhythms, and Caribbean dance culture into an inimitable pop sound that is as accessible as it is adventurous.
The two friends met at school while studying music, and began releasing songs that challenged the pillars of alternative music. Their discography includes three EPs, multiple singles, and a full-length debut album, CARISMA, released in May 2020.
Their multicultural approach has led to diverse collaborations with artists such as New Orleans bounce pioneer Big Freedia (featured in Beyoncé’s “Formation”), Brazilian artist MC Bin Laden, and legendary dub producer Lee “Scratch” Perry.
In 2024, Salt Cathedral releases their second studio album, Before It’s Gone. The album reflects on time and the anxieties of living in a hyperconnected world that is both beautiful and endangered. With themes like climate change fears, complacency, phone addiction, and trust, they weave a sonic world that feels both foreboding and hopeful.
